Craftsman V20 Brushless RP Rotary Hammer

Mar 11, 2023Mar 11, 2023

While Craftsman's cordless rotary hammer has been around for quite some time, it's getting a new visual update to help it be more recognizable as part of the Brushless RP line. Very similar to the CMCD732 hammer drill, Craftsman elected to change the CMCH234's design and update packaging to help you differentiate which tools use brushless technology. Take a look at the details and decide if it's the right rotary hammer for your next project.

The features and specifications of the CMCH234 rotary hammer are actually the exact same as the CMCH233 model. The main thing is that Craftsman decided to give the newer CMCH234 a visual update to make it clear it's part of the RP Brushless lineup.

If you’re new to the Brushless RP line, RP stands for Runtime and Performance. Compared to brushed motors, you can expect runtimes up to 50% longer. This brushless design also gives it better performance than other rotary hammers. It has an impact energy output of 2.0 joules (1.5 ft-lbs) along with 1500 RPM and 5500 BPM, allowing quick concrete drilling.

At the same time, the tool weighs right at 5 pounds without a battery and its compact 15.2-inch length makes working in and around tight spaces easier.

The Craftsman CMCH234 bare tool retails for $119 at Lowe's. The previous version (CMCH233) lists for $149 with the same specifications and features, so it's nice to see a price drop. Craftsman backs your purchase with a 3-year limited warranty.
