Dec 31, 2023Dec 31, 2023

The Cancel The Autopsy is a lengthy mission in The Outlast Trials, so here's a walkthrough guide to help you finish it without dying.

The Outlast Trials is technically the 3rd game in The Outlast series, not including Whistleblower. This game involves a strange Cold War experimentation on subjects that you need to uncover while attempting your escape from Murkoff. The scariest thing about this series being you can't fight back.

Between the puzzles and tricks this game will pull on you, one mission is Cancel The Autopsy. With several trials to complete, Cancel The Autopsy is part of the MK Trial, and you must complete it to progress in the game. The task will be morbid and gross, but you'll be one step closer to escaping Murkoff.

Taking place in the 1900s, the MK Trial is part of Program 1 in the police station. All the trials, this one included, take roughly 20–60 minutes to complete. This depends on if you search around for any nearby collectibles and complete side quests. Unlike the other Outlast games, you can play with friends in this one, which could help a lot in the earlier trials. However, be aware that it could make things more complicated the further you get in the game.

Each program will consist of 5 trials, making it a total of 15 trials. This does not include Program X, which is only available once you complete all 15 trials. Your ultimate objective is to be "reborn" so you can leave this place. If you spend the time to find every collectible and complete everything you're able to, this game will last you as little as 15 hours or as long as 30.

The ultimate goal of Cancel The Autopsy in the MK Trial is to find all 3 keys for the grinder and grind agents' bodies in the grinder. While this sounds pretty straightforward, the right bodies can be difficult to find. The first step to this trial is to go to the Police Station. From here, you will want to head to the gymnasium. Above the grinder, there will be a hanging agent.

The button near the grinder just has to be pushed to open the Sector doors. The first body will have the key on them, but you will have to travel to Sector A, Sector B, and Sector C to find the other keys. When you're in the sectors, look for bodies that have specific tattoos, as these are the ones with the key. You will need to use your night vision as it will be dark when searching for the keys.

You will need the nerve to complete this, as enemies are nearby, including the Warden. Utilize your stealth and limit battery use.

You will have to travel to Sector A, Sector B, and Sector C to find the 3 keys. When you're in the sectors, look for bodies that have specific tattoos, as these are the ones with the key. You will need to use your night vision as it will be dark when searching for the keys.

You can either search for the keys one by one, bringing them back as you find them, or you can find them all before returning to the grinder. The tattoo symbols you are looking for on the bodies will be displayed just outside the Sector doors.

Sector C will be located in the far right corner of the gym. The clue you are given is a diamond. After you enter, run past the blue grated bin, put on your night vision, and go to the first room on your right. Go through the door to your left and walk straight ahead through the cells. You may find some batteries on the shelves. There will be a glass window you can break; it will be a plain window with no bars or designs on the glass.

Jumping through, go to your left, then make a sharp right. Be aware of any traps lying on the floor. To your right of this room, break through the boarded-up door. Put your night vision on, then straight ahead to your right will be the first body with the diamond tattoo. Interact to search inside the stomach of the body and obtain the key.

Sector B will be located near the Sector A door. The clue given is a moon. Once you get the key from the diamond body, stay crouched and silent, as there may be an enemy in the room with you. You'll want to head out the door that is lit. Veer to your right once past that door, and go into the next area. Take your night vision off so as not to drain the battery, and walk straight before turning left, following the sign pointing to the gymnasium. Running straight ahead, you'll notice the glowing red Exit sign above the gym to your right. Be careful, as there will be an enemy in this hallway.

Go through the Sector B door on your right, then turn right again. If you're trying to get rid of the enemy that's chasing you, you'll take a sharp left after the main Sector B door, and there's a little crawl hole in the wall to your bottom left. Crawl through there to go into the bathrooms. Run straight ahead, past the hanging cans, and go to your right outside the door. Quickly put your night vision on and go into the dark room to your left before shutting it on the enemy, possibly closing in on you.

To your left, you'll see a curtain, and on the other side will be the body with the moon tattoo. Dig through the body's guts to retrieve the key. Once you have the key, go through the lit-up small crawl space on the wall near you. Take off your night vision to save on batteries and go through the door ahead of you next to a yellow Danger sign. Be careful when opening this door, as steam will spurt out.

Go to your left, then follow the sign for Sector A. Sector A will also be located to your left when you first enter the gym, and the clue you are given is a star. Go down the hall following the wall pipes until you come to a room on your left. You will see the feet of a body sticking out from the other side of a workbench in front of a sink. This will not be the body you're looking for, so put on your night glasses and turn to your right to head straight in that direction. To your right, there will be a door you can kick in.

Once inside, go to your left and kick open a door that leads to a garage area. Take off your night vision and go to your right. You'll notice two cars on your right; the body you're looking for will be between these two against the back wall. Repeat the process of digging through the body's stomach to get the key. Turn around and veer to your right going through the door that has the Exit sign.

After all the keys are found, head back to the gym, so you can begin grinding up the bodies one by one. The sound of the Grinder will alert nearby enemies, so you will want to finish prior to them reaching the gymnasium. However, if you sense some are near, you will want to hide until they leave. Put the keys in the designated keyholes and turn them to begin. Once all 3 keys are turned, go stand next to the gated Exit, so you can run when it opens.

Don't make any sudden movements as the monster will enter in a rage from the noise, and the Warden will be investigating. If you're in co-op mode, then you could have one person distract the Warden if, for some reason, he is chasing you while you're waiting for the door to open.

Immediately following the last body grinding up, the Exit behind you will open, and you can run towards the shuttle. Be careful as on the other side of the door will be an enemy. After you're done grinding the bodies, you will need to leave before you get caught. There will be a Shuttle Exit. You'll need to call for a shuttle and wait. You must not die while waiting for the shuttle for this mission to be completed. Therefore, utilize deploying a mine and find a place to hide while waiting for the shuttle.

There will be a small crawl space not far from the B.1 shuttle door you can go in if you have no mines to deploy and are being chased. When the shuttle opens, run inside to be taken to the Evaluation area. From here, you will receive the summary of the Cancel The Autopsy challenge.
