VALLEY GROVE — Valley Grove Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a Community Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 10.

There will be live music, and skills displayed by Stone Martial Arts and by the members of Valley Grove VFD. Doors open at 9:30 a.m.

There will be concessions available, pre-recorded music will set the atmosphere, with fun activities taking place for the entire family. Included are vendor tables, face painting for the kids and fire department displays.

There will be a cornhole tournament open to first responders during the Community Day, with an entry of a $10 donation. Pre-registration is required. For entry or information call 304-215-2452. Don't miss out on the tool raffle, featuring several valuable collections of power tools featuring four separates chances to win. Packages are a Westinghouse generator, a Craftsman power washer, a Kobalt compressor and a DeWalt power tool collection. A 50/50 Raffle will also be held at the event's end, and winners need not be present for either. All raffle proceeds directly benefit the fire department.

At 10 a.m., Wheeling Rock Depot's Rock Troll, R. Scott Stewart, will do an hour of his mostly acoustic set of classic rock and originals picked from over 30 years of songwriting and performing. He’ll then emcee the stage.

At 11 a.m., valley award-winning Stone Martial Arts will give a demonstration in tae kwon do and other martial arts. Led by Jacob and Lisa Stone, this family-run Wheeling dojo has provided local first responders with defense training and has a long relationship with our first responder community and the Wheeling area. Valley Grove firefighters and other local responders will also give various skills demonstrations throughout the day. This promises to be a treat for kids young and old.

At 1 p.m., Ohio Valley's Donnie Decena will play pop and rock favorites mastered over decades playing venues across Asia, the Pacific (cruise lines) and the United States. He is a musician's musician. Music will close from 2:30-4 p.m. with an exciting new Ohio Valley Rock band, 10 Penny, a quartet boasting serious musical chops with Jason Jump on bass, Jacob Carpenter on guitar, Jon Clark on vocals and guitar, and Cody Stepanek on drums. The group plays everything from classic rock to modern hits tastefully but with a bite. They promise to be a new Ohio Valley favorite.

Sponsors include Quaker Steak and Lube, Ruttenbucks, the Eagle's Den and Hillbilly Snack Shack.

The event offers a great afternoon and early evening of family-friendly entertainment, and a great chance to meet and support the firefighters and EMS personnel of Valley Grove VFD.
